A gifted teenager from Nagpur’s dream of working in the United States came to an abrupt end because of his age.
Vedant Deokate was offered a dream job with a salary package of Rs 33 lakh in an American company after winning a coding contest. Employers, however, had to withdraw the offer after discovering that Vedant was only 15, according to a Times of India report.

It all started when Vedant came across a link to the coding contest while browsing Instagram on his mother’s laptop.

He wrote about 2,066 lines of code in two days and won the competition.

Impressed with his coding skills, a New Jersey-based advertising agency offered him a job in their HRD department. He was selected from around 1,000 other entries from around the world.

Unfortunately, they had to withdraw the offer after discovering that Vedant was only 15 years old. All is not lost for him as the company told him not to be disappointed and to keep in touch after his training.

Vedant has developed a website, animeeditor.com, which allows customers to download videos from YouTube with additional features of blogging, chatbox and also a video viewing platform.

Apart from winning the online competition, he also won the gold medal in a science exhibition at his school in Narayana-e-techno, Wathoda. At that time, he had designed a model radar system.

His parents, Rajesh and Ashwini, are assistant professors in engineering colleges in Nagpur. Both had no idea that Vedant had landed a job in the United States.

“We had no idea. It was a call from my son’s school that told us about this job opening,” Rajesh said.
